This Boatswain v3 is made from Van Gogh leather by Conceria Il Ponte (Tuscany, Italy) in color Caramel — a warm golden-brown with a smooth, bright aniline finish that catches light directly. Hand-stamped with bright gold foil, stitched with golden linen thread. The foil and thread together make it the most eye-catching piece in this batch.
Van Gogh is Conceria Il Ponte’s Tamponato leather — the most authentic leather produced in Tuscany, by their own description. French bovine shoulders, 100% vegetable-tanned with Quebracho and Mimosa extracts following an old tannery recipe. The hide is finished by hand then sprayed with aniline colors, giving it a smooth, shiny surface with transparency and natural depth. Not dyed through: the finish is applied on top of natural leather, which is exactly what allows that warm Caramel tone to catch light the way it does.
The bright gold foil stamp presses the Pirate Goods mark into the surface — it glints. Paired with golden linen thread, this one isn’t trying to be subtle.
