The Boatswain v3 is a flat leather card holder — same slim profile as the Venturer v2, but with a wider body that fits six to nine cards and a dedicated cash pocket. If you've been using the Venturer and running out of slots, this is the natural next step.

How much it actually carries
Six is the comfortable carry. Nine is possible once the leather has broken in — it starts snug and loosens over the first few weeks. The cash pocket is designed for bills folded in thirds — keeps them flat and retrievable without a billfold compartment adding bulk.
Six cards and a few bills is the load it was built for.
The leather (and why it's named on the label)
Most card holders just say "genuine leather." That tells you nothing. Here's exactly what you're getting:
- Carlo Badalassi Wax (Olmo, Tobacco) — waxed pull-up leather. Scratches rub out with your thumb. Darkens with carry, most character over time.
- Ponte / Ponte Wax (Natural, Tan) — vegetable-tanned, smooth finish. Natural is lighter; Tan has a warmer tone. Both patina gradually.
- Koala (Cigar, Black) — smooth, even, minimal marking. The cleaner look that stays consistent.
All full-grain — the top layer of the hide, not corrected or bonded scraps. Built to outlast a few phones.
Who it's not for
If you carry fewer than six cards and don't need cash on you, the Venturer v2 is the slimmer choice at $64. If you need a bifold with proper bill compartments, look at the Buccaneer instead.

How many cards does the Boatswain v3 hold?
Six is the comfortable carry. Nine is possible once the leather has broken in — it starts snug and loosens over the first few weeks.
What's the triple-fold cash pocket?
It's a dedicated slot sized for bills folded in thirds. Keeps your cash flat and separate from your cards without adding the bulk of a billfold compartment.
Does the leather scratch?
Crazy Horse (Rusty) marks with use — that's the pull-up characteristic and most scratches rub out with your thumb. Koala (Black, Cigar) and Ponte Wax (Tan, Natural) are smoother and mark less.
Will the leather stretch?
Yes, a little, in the first few weeks. It starts snug and breaks in to fit your carry. Normal for full-grain leather.
How do I care for it?
Not much needed. Keep it out of the wash. A small amount of leather conditioner once or twice a year if it looks dry. It'll look better with age.

Now every edge gets seven hand-polished passes before it leaves my bench. No shortcuts. No paint sealing it shut. Just leather, polished the old way, until it holds a shine on its own.
