A bifold that carries everything you need and nothing you don't
The Buccaneer is my slim bifold — two cash pockets, four card slots, and a profile that doesn't bulge a back pocket or wreck a jacket. It's the wallet I'd recommend to anyone coming from a fat tri-fold who wants to carry the same things in half the space.
The basics
- Size: 4.5" × 3" (11.5 × 7.5 cm)
- 4 card slots + 2 cash pockets
- Full-grain leather, hand-finished edges
- $220 machine-stitched / $250 hand-stitched
- Made by hand in my Kyiv workshop, one at a time
How much it actually carries
Four slots, up to three cards each — so twelve if you pack it. The comfortable carry is one or two cards per slot, four to eight total, plus folded bills in both cash pockets. The bifold fold keeps everything flat so there's no card-corner poking through fabric.
My recommendation: two cards per slot, six total, plus your main bills in one pocket and receipts or emergency cash in the other. That's the load it was built for.
The leather (and why it's named on the label)
Most wallets just say "genuine leather." That tells you nothing. Here's exactly what you're getting:
-
Badalassi Carlo (Tobacco, Olmo, and Tobacco & Olmo): Italian vegetable-tanned full-grain leather from a Tuscan tannery. Firm, ages slowly, and builds a deep patina the longer you carry it. In the Tobacco & Olmo combo, it's Tobacco on the outside and the two inner pockets, with Olmo on the inside.
-
Tempesti (Natural): vegetable-tanned in Tuscany by a family tannery that's been at it since 1946. Natural color that darkens gradually with use, light, and the oils from your hands.
-
Koala (Black): smooth, even finish with minimal marking. The cleaner look that stays consistent.
Badalassi Carlo and Tempesti are both members of the Consorzio Vera Pelle Italiana Conciata al Vegetale, the Tuscan consortium that certifies traditional vegetable tanning. All of it is full-grain, the top layer of the hide, not corrected or bonded scraps. Built to outlast a few phones.
Who it's not for
If you carry more than eight cards, a thick stack of receipts, and coins, this isn't the right wallet — you'll fight it every time. The Buccaneer is for a clean carry. If you need a slimmer, pocketless option just for cards, look at the Venturer v2 instead.
FAQ
What's the difference between Machine-Stitched and Hand-Stitched?
Two different methods, same leather, same edges, same lifetime guarantee.
Hand-Stitched is saddle-stitched one stitch at a time. If a thread ever breaks, the seam holds — it doesn't unravel the way machine stitching can. Takes longer to make. Built to outlive you. Vitalii stitches every one personally.
Machine-Stitched is tight, precise, and tough. Same full-grain leather, same edge work. Stitched on an industrial machine in the same workshop, to the same standards. The everyday choice for a wallet that gets used hard.
How many cards does it hold?
Up to twelve across four slots if you pack it. The comfortable carry is one to two cards per slot — four to eight cards total — plus bills in both cash pockets.
Does the leather scratch?
Yes, a little, and that's part of the look. The vegetable-tanned leathers (Badalassi Carlo and Tempesti) pick up marks and patina with use, and light marks soften into it over time. Koala (Black) is smoother and shows marks less.
Will the leather stretch?
A little, in the first few weeks. It starts snug and breaks in to fit your carry. Normal for full-grain leather.
How do I care for it?
Not much needed. Keep it out of the wash. A small amount of leather conditioner once or twice a year if it looks dry. It'll look better in five years than it does today.
Who makes it and where?
I do, by hand, in my workshop in Kyiv, Ukraine. Every order ships with a handwritten note. We've shipped 7,000+ orders and earned 600+ five-star reviews.
