The leather: Italico by Conceria Puccini Attilio (Tuscany, Italy), color Asfalto — a deep charcoal that reads near-black with a brilliant gloss that catches light. Stitched with silver linen thread and finished with a silver-tone foil embossing pressed by hand.
Italico is vegetable-tanned French bovine shoulder — dyed through with a two-tone aniline finish that creates depth solid black leather doesn't have. Firm temper, glossy surface. The name Asfalto is accurate: dark, smooth, hard-wearing. The silver thread and embossing sit against it cleanly.
