The Quartermaster v4 is a travel wallet built around your passport. It also fits a Field Notes journal in the same compartment. Four card pockets — two on each side, with a new wave-cut design on the right for faster access — plus room for folded bills. Optional pen loop on the side. Machine or hand-stitched.
Previous versions had two card pockets on the left only. The v4 adds two more on the right, cut in a wave pattern rather than straight slots — easier to get your fingers in and pull a card cleanly without digging. Everything else from the previous version is unchanged.
Most travel wallets just say “genuine leather.” That tells you nothing. Here’s exactly what you’re getting:
All full-grain — the top layer of the hide, not corrected or bonded scraps.
If you don’t carry a passport or Field Notes regularly, the Buccaneer or Boatswain v3 will serve you better day-to-day. The Quartermaster is for the person who wants everything in one piece when they travel or write.
Does it fit all passport sizes?
Yes — standard passport dimensions worldwide. US, EU, and UK passports all fit.
Does it fit Field Notes specifically?
Yes, sized for Field Notes (3.5" × 5.5"). Other notebooks of similar dimensions will fit too.
Do I need the pen loop?
Only if you carry a pen. Without it the wallet is slightly slimmer. Neither option is better — just different carry styles.
What’s the difference between Machine-Stitched and Hand-Stitched?
Same leather, same edges, same lifetime guarantee — two different methods.
Hand-Stitched is saddle-stitched one stitch at a time. If a thread ever breaks, the seam holds and doesn’t unravel. Takes longer to make, built to outlive you. Vitalii stitches every one personally.
Machine-Stitched is tight, precise, and tough. Stitched on an industrial machine in the same workshop to the same standards. The everyday choice for a wallet that gets used hard.
How many cards does it hold?
Six to ten across four pockets. The comfortable carry is six to eight — one to two per pocket — plus folded bills.
Does the leather scratch?
Crazy Horse (Rusty, Pistachio) marks with use — most scratches rub out with your thumb. Badalassi Carlo (Olmo), Ponte Wax (Tan), and Koala (Black, Cigar) are smoother and mark less.

When i first laid eyes on pistacio, i knew i needed to have it! I messaged vitalii to ask about making my pistachio with the marbled variation, which he was happy to do. Absolutely beautiful wallet. The colour is amazing. The craftsmanship is second to none. The attention to detail is fantastic. Fits all the cards, notes & a notebook I need perfectly.
