The leather: Natural by Virgilio Artigiano (Tuscany, Italy), color Cognac — a warm amber-brown that's going to look better in six months than it does today. Stitched with Camel linen thread.
A few things to know about this piece specifically, because I'd rather tell you upfront:
The patina on Virgilio's natural leather starts almost immediately. The surface is lively — oils from your hands, friction, daily carry — it all shows, and all improves the hide. On the sides of this wallet there are small marks from the stitching pony (the tool that holds leather in place during hand-stitching). Not defects. A record of how it was made. The leather absorbs them into the patina within weeks.
