There are no shortage of small cardholder sort of wallets, but I really love this little guy.
I've been rocking 2 cards in the 3 slots, and they're laid out nicely for basic organization. The design is kinda cool and unconventional. The wallet feels really well made. Grant it, it is just 4 pieces of leather stitched together, but the stitching is nice and the edges have been beautifully finished. And oh my god is this leather nice. I went for the "cigar" koala leather. I'm not the biggest fan of playful leather naming like "rusty anchor", but fortunately there are pictures (gorgeous ones at that) so you know what you're getting. Vitalii, please start making belts.
Of course, you are supporting a small maker, and to me that is always a beautiful thing. If all of that didn't convince you to buy this, then look at the cool little pirate dude logo. Who wouldn't want that on their gear?
The leather is pretty thin and –while that makes it nice and light– definite does mean the edges on the top of mine have a few marks from being bent in the pocket. The Boatswain V2 has rounded corners and I do wish mine had that too.
As with all of these small wallet, cash does not have the best of home. I live in a country where coins are actually worth something, so spending cash means getting coins in return. That is the nature of these wallets of course.
All that being said, if I lost this wallet tomorrow, I would instantly buy another one. And at that price and supporting a small maker, I say it's an absolute steal. Or to keep it on theme: An absolute plunder.
I wasn’t too sure how this wallet would fit my needs but after using it for a few weeks I’m in love with it. It’s well made and I know I’ll be using it for years to come.
I have two boatswain wallets - one in Italian whisky from 2021 and one I just recieved in cocoa shell cordovan in 2023. Both are incredibly well-made and they are such awesome front pocket wallets. I have not been able to find any slim wallet comparable to how these feel in my jeans. Makes my life a lot easier and the craftsmanship is just incredible. My two-year old wallet is holding up wonderfully with a nice patina, and the shell is just luxurious. I challenge you to find a better slim wallet. These are just awesome, and Vitalii is a great guy, super nice and easy to do business with. Please support him.
